Harry Palmer, the developer and author of the Avatar Materials, expressed the mission of Avatar in these gentle words:
The mission of Avatar in the world is to catalyze the integration of belief systems. When we perceive that the only difference between us is our beliefs and that beliefs can be created or discreated with ease, the right and wrong game will wind down, a co-create game will unfold, and world peace will ensue.
Harrys words, which were written in the late 80s, still echo in the hearts of thousands and every day are being heard, felt and lived in new hearts around the world.
I was reminded of them recently during that wonderful moment when an Avatar delivery transforms the ordinarya living room, a patio, a backyardinto a sacred space where something profound is experienced.
In that space, ideas, beliefs, and experiences are explored and integrated with greater gentleness, depth, and reverence than in any other time or place.
An Avatar Course is a place where the profound that lies beneath our individual differences is experienced. Something shared is felt beyond race, education, age, profession, religion, outlook, culture, language, etc.
So there I was, an American, granddaughter of Greek immigrants, facilitating an Avatar Course in Japan. The extent of my knowledge of Japanese consisted of a few salutations. And I had also been shown the proper way to bow.
As you might imagine, I had some attention on the barriers of language, customs, and culture. Sometimes a translator was available, but most of the time I communicated with the students through feelings and gestures. We all laughed a lot.
It was during a break that Harrys words came to mind. I stood in quiet appreciation observing the scene before me. Just people, not Chinese, not Japanese, not Americans, just peopletogether, sharing, listening, and enjoying each other. A scene that, with Avatar, could happen anywhere on Planet Earth.
As I sipped green tea, my eyes widened and my breathing deepened. It dawned on me, aha, the mission of Avatar in 3-D right in front of me. An ordinary Asian living room turned into a sacred space. I saw in a flash that all that separates anyone from any other person is just their beliefs about the importance of their differences. And now attention was shifting to something more important than differences, to something that we all had in common.
Separation and the limiting beliefs about language, custom and culture fell away. There was nothing but beliefs between us. I felt at peace in a world that included all beings.
The course continued. I watched beings awakening to their own peaceful sovereignty, fully experiencing that their world was constructed by their beliefs, and that their beliefs could be created or discreated with ease...
