If I Had One Wish

By Kayt Kennedy

If I had one wish, just one, and I knew it would come true, I’d wish that we would all wake up and remember who we are, that we came from the same source, and we would then live together cooperatively and creatively on this beautiful planet.
That wish would preserve and rehabilitate our planet. It would mean the end of all wars, genocide, homicide, suicide. We would create possibilities without limit, earth-friendly inventions, win-win solutions to problems and disputes. That would truly be an enlightened civilization.

As I cannot wave my magic wand and make that wish come true, what can I do in the meantime to bring at least part of my wish actively into my life? Will I wake myself up and remember who I am and who I am not? Will I remember that circumstances do not have to prescribe or predict how I live my life––that I can live from source awareness, as source of my own universe? Will I let go of excuses for my own perceived failure, my own self denial, or my unwillingness to take a risk, to move out of the box of my own and society’s definition of who I should be, what I should do or have? Will I step forward, stand up and be counted among those who see a better way?

Will I remember that who I really am cannot be destroyed, so that I am freer to take a chance, to do something challenging, perhaps something that most people consider high-risk, even dangerous?

Will I look at those I perceive as strangers and remember that they came from the same source as I and cut them some slack? Will I remember that what separates us is a difference in our belief systems? Will I treat others as I prefer to be treated?

Will I forgive those I perceive as having wronged me or held me back or disregarded me because of my gender, age, race, or beliefs? Can I accept that I––in a state of greater knowing beyond these earthly limitations––set up the circumstances of my life with all the events and people who show up in it––deliberately, for whatever purpose seemed appropriate for my own growth and spiritual evolution?

Will I live responsibly and not knowingly contribute to the further rape and desecration of Planet Earth? Will I be a good steward of our world’s resources?

Will I let go of my blame of the past and my anxiety about the future and claim my power to create my life NOW?

And if I need help to stay conscious, to remember who I am, will I create a community of friends and family who will remind me, be supportive of me?

As part of the Avatar network, I have a worldwide community of family and friends who remind each other of who we are and what we’re about when we momentarily forget. Together we hold a vision of a cooperative planetary body, an enlightened planetary civilization, and we strive to live our lives in accordance with that vision.

In the words of Harry Palmer, creator of Avatar, “What is the real work to be done on this planet? It’s to make ourselves more aware, to remind ourselves that our essential nature is nonviolent, and to increase the amount of compassion and cooperation on this planet.”
