Avatar In the New Millennium

by Guido Sleddens

There was a tangible excitement in the chilly, early morning of March when a group of 40 enthusiastic Dutch Avatar Masters began a cooperative Avatar course in Holland: 70 new students and 20 reviewers. The slopes and forests around the Hotel Erica presented the perfect spot for an Avatar training: lots of things to see and feel, a quiet space surrounding the well organized and comfortable training facility.

The day started with the ReSurfacing workshop. The individual Masters presented the material by turns to the group of eager listeners. The audience discussed, laughed and did ReSurfacing exercises throughout the next two days. The energy went up. Everybody finished the program and shared realizations. The simplicity of the exercises really made the workshop into a playshop. Instead of just analyzing the mind, amazing discoveries were made. “Ah! This is the way it works!”

One student went to do a walk for atonement, and chose to do it on a flight of stairs instead of in the forest. While he was moving up, step by step, suddenly a young boy who was playing there called out to him: ‘Sir, can I help you?’

He said, “No, it’s alright.”

Then the boy said, “It seems to be such a struggle for you.”

He grinned as he continued the exercise. The struggle was with the thoughts, not the stairs.

On Monday, with spring showing itself in the first rays of sun, we began with Section II of the Avatar materials. The room quickly became very quiet as students sat down at the tables with their Masters. In the new atmosphere was an incredible willingness to explore, to get real, direct experiences of what was being presented. Soon the hotel filled with quietly interested individuals who were exploring the impact of the simple instructions.
The hotel flexibly adapted to these 120 awakening individuals who were amazingly starting to really feel for the first time. Everyone was realizing that once you get it, it’s so simple, and you don’t want anything else! Some were struggling, as usual, to get through their own resistances, while others just swiftly moved along. The Masters teamed up to create a safe and quiet environment, constantly inspired the whole group with lighthearted humor, and an unwavering intention to get each and every one smoothly through their own mental obstacles.

By the time the initiation sessions started, the atmosphere had become very sweet and quiet throughout the whole hotel. Other guests became interested in what we were doing. One student said he did not understand how he could feel more connected to his fellow students than to people he had known for more than 15 years!

Late in the week, we moved into the limitations, identities and other procedures of Section III. People integrated old patterns that they did not want to experience anymore. Students deepened their understanding of themselves and others in ways they never thought possible. In a big group of new Avatar students the energy is so light and playful that is becomes very easy to create and discreate, to feel and realize that what separates us is just our beliefs.

And you know what? Avatar courses are happening all over the world!
