The Bridge

by Sylvia Schlesinger

Several years ago, while on my annual trip to Sedona, Arizona, I systematically rented a series of videotapes over the course of my stay. The tapes contained both “word lessons” and “world lessons,” as Harry Palmer would say, in this case both concepts and philosophies as well as experiences in the form of guided meditations. For me the word lessons were fascinating and mentally very simulating—the world lessons, momentarily satisfying. That is until I got to the last in the series.

While the preceding tapes were all delivered with humor and a lightheartedness, the last took a serious look at the state of the world and the state of consciousness that most people live in at this point in human history. The speaker discussed the nature of the present approaches to major world issues such as poverty and hunger, regional wars, and pollution and went on to explain why current approaches were inadequate. He went on to describe the higher-vibrational, multidimensional ways in which these problems would be approached beginning now and in the future. The lecturer suggested an image of this planet and its present predominately fear-based consciousness and “another” Earth rising in vibration, rising in consciousness to a planet based on Love.

The message was intrinsically positive in that it was up to us to decide deliberately which world we prefer to live in, one that is fear-based or one that is based in love. Well, I didn’t need to meditate to know which one I preferred.

For me the choice and commitment were simply reaffirmations; the mission on the other hand was a mystery. As the meditation continued and we came to the part about our purpose, an image formed of the two Earths that had been described, and I saw a bridge lay between them. I saw myself on the edge of the bridge, hand outstretched assisting people from the dense, fear-based Earth, to the expanded, lighter love-based Earth.

This image was very powerful for me. I believed that this was my mission and that I would serve global consciousness in this way; however I hadn’t a clue as to how I could do this. But my intention was clear, so into my life came Avatar.

As soon as I heard and felt what Avatar was, I recognized that this was the bridge I had seen. When I did The Avatar Course the word lessons that the articles in the Avatar Journal and of the lecture series I had rented became world lessons. I now had a powerful set of techniques that enabled me to do more than visualize; it gave me the power to manifest. It assisted me in achieving and sustaining whatever world I wanted to create. For me it has been and continues to be the bridge to take me from myself to my Self.

Beyond giving people mentally stimulating concepts to contemplate or a temporary high of a nice guided meditation, Avatar offers people the tools to build the bridge from one state of consciousness to another. From there people can decide where and how to build the bridge and when to use it. Most people who take The Avatar Course find themselves using the tools more and more and finding deeper and deeper levels to themselves and their creations. This is raising consciousness in an atmosphere of personal responsibility one conscious Being at a time.
