A Star’s Edge Trainer Looks Back—And Forward

I took The Avatar Course in January of 1988. That makes me an “oldie” in the network. That means I fit under any “grandfather clauses” that just might exist. I was living in Atlanta, Georgia, at the time, and Avatar was this training that two of my closest friends had just done (where else but in California!), and they were so transformed by it that I didn’t dare fall behind. It seemed totally illogical and irrational at the time, but I knew I had to wake up with myself every morning for the rest of my life, and the thought of that at the time was not a pretty sight. I decided that I was worth the investment.
My Avatar Course? I resisted it with all I had. How could these people really be this happy? I wanted what Avatar was about so badly, but I argued and fought for my limitations. They were what I had known and identified with! And yet, in spite of myself, I had undeniably profound experiences. I reconnected with a deep, aware, more expanded and strangely familiar aspect of myself that I had longed to experience. The training gave ME back, and for that I am forever grateful.
Six months after The Avatar Course, I decided to go to The Avatar Master Course. It was like coming home. As soon as I walked into this house in Elmira, New York, I knew that I was meeting with my destiny. It was as if everything I had done thus far had prepared me for being there. Avatar was the cleanest, clearest, most spiritual and yet most practical training for living a happy and fulfilled life on Planet Earth that I had ever experienced.
As I stepped into being an Avatar Master, I attracted the most incredible beings to me. It was like watching chicks pecking their way out of their shells. I saw that my role was to stay out of their way and facilitate their process—like a midwife at a birth—and celebrate their victory. It was awe-inspiring.
My first two courses were at an insurance company. It was the first time a company had recognized the value of the training and had decided to offer it to its people. The next two trainings I did were at Star’s Edge—they were Avatar Courses taking place alongside of Master Courses. I then returned to California and began to deliver along the Pacific Coast.
My intention was to deliver Avatar to beings who were ready to awaken. I went to Vancouver, BC, and then to Ireland, where we delivered Avatar in a 16th-century castle. Some time ago I did a course in Northern California with three students from Taiwan. About a year after that I was invited to Taiwan to deliver The Avatar Course to about 20 students. Today, the International Avatar Course deliveries routinely draw around 200 students and are quite literally taught all around the world.
I liken Avatar to an alarm clock.You would, most likely, wake up anyway, but it’s there to shake you and awaken you out of your slumber, so that you move along your evolutionary path and dissolve in a very short time what could have been patterns over lifetimes.
Over the years that I have been an Avatar Master I have watched the network expand from a couple of hundred Avatars to a course available in 19 languages and delivered in 67 countries. I’ve seen the network grow when other organizations on seemingly similar missions have crested and fallen. I now work at the headquarters in Florida and have experienced an integrity in its people and organization that I had believed was possible, but had not found until this experience.
Where do I believe we are headed? To cooperatively creating an enlightened planetary civilization. That’s our destiny.
I once ran a student on the last rundown of The Avatar Course and when he completed and was ready to share, he looked at me and said, “It’s all me! It’s all me!” It’s that level of responsibility that we’re headed to. What’s ahead is the expansion of a network of beings who are working for something greater than their own self interests, for something far more important than money in the bank or personal recognition. They are compassionate, joyful and real. They believe that being in integrity with themselves and living at the level of what truly excites them is how they want to live their lives. I believe that those who are drawn to Avatar are not resisting but rather, are eagerly awakening and continuing to grow and explore at the level of the Master and Wizard courses to take greater responsibility for their lives and for our planet.
